La Feria Life

Hey everybody!

I hope you all had a wonderful week. Mine was pretty good. It is heating up real quick here in La Feria so we're just running from shady spot to shady spot and home to home as quick as possible. I have never downed so much water, so quickly in my life. A gallon+ of water is more than easy to down out here. Pretty nuts. I hope and pray that some rain will find its way out here again soon.

Well before I get too far. I always want to thank Grandma Jeri for her weekly letter that she sends. Love you lots grandma.

So this week has been a little hectic and we haven't had all that much time to go out and work in our area (super tough on me as a missionary). So we have had to rely on the Lord and pray that whatever little efforts we put forth that he will magnify them and prepare the hearts of those who we haven't been able to reach yet. I know he has been answering those prayers.

Unfortunately for that reason I don't have much to write about in this weeks letter. Just know that I am doing great and I couldn't be happier with the progress that Elder Rosaschi has been making. I couldn't ask for a better greenie to train. He is a great guy with a big heart.

Something I would like to mention is from a study today that is found in the book of John chapters Fifteen and sixteen. I love these chapters a lot because Christ explains how he views those who choose to follow him. I love how he states that we have been chosen by him and even though he is the king of kings, he doesn't view us as servants or subjects, but friends. However, because we are numbered with Christ I think we often forget that we must be prepared to face adversity and be hated of the world. The good news is the promise that Christ gives in the conclusion of chapter sixteen : verse 33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." I know that Christ walks our path with us every day and waits on us to ask for help. Don't forget to ask for those things that you need and to pour out your heart in gratitude. I testify that Christ did overcome the world and for that we need not look far for refuge. He suffered every one of those pains and was despised of men for each and every one of us. This I bear witness of in His sacred name. Jesus Christ. Amen.

Have a great week everyone! I hope to hear from you all soon *wink, wink* *nudge, nudge* haha.

Stay classy,

Elder Sheehy

We found a members selfie-stick, so.....

A member posted this on Facebook yesterday. She said it was after Stake Conference.

It's Getting Hot!

Well I hope everyone had an awesome week and are enjoying their first days of summer. I am loving it here still in La Feria and my comp Rosaschi! We had a pretty great week with some good lessons.

As usual:

Thank you so much to Grandma Jeri for the letters and love you send my way. Also thank you To grandma Lorraine for the giftcard. Yes, I finally got it from Weslaco.

So there aren't too many details to be shared this week or photos for that matter unfortunately. I guess the highlight of the week was by far seeing one of our favorite member families here have the father readmitted into the church after a long excommunication process. I love that guy a lot and it was super cool to be witness to the atonement being reintroduced into his life. I felt the spirit whisper to me that he was absolutely clean once again and like the parable of the one and the ninety nine sheep, Christ and the hosts of heaven were rejoicing that the one had returned to the fold. I love having these constant reminders of the saviors infinite love for each and every one of us on a daily basis as a missionary. I know that he will always accept us back with open arms if we but reach out and take his hand once more.

Love you all so much and hope that you have a terrific week.

Stay Classy,

Elder Sheehy

I Love The Rain!

What's up everybody?!

Sorry about not getting an email sent out this past week. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and are out doing fun things. I would love to hear from any and all of you. Here it has been super enjoyable weather with all this rain. Rain is a huge blessing because it cools it down a lot. Literally anything to keep the heat down a little is giant here in the South Texas heat and humidity.

Because I wasn't able to get a mass email out last week I want to thank Grandma J and Brooklyn Hermansen for the letters. I love hearing about your lives.

So to catch up a little bit, Elder Rosaschi and I are still together here in La Feria. We love it and we get along really great. The work has been a little slow, but we are putting in hard work and I know that the Lord will bless our efforts so we can find more people to teach.

Mostly this email will be focused on pictures and videos from the last few weeks since I have neglected to send them out. So I hope you all enjoy.

Elder Rosaschi and I during the lull in investigators have a had a great opportunity to serve local members. We have had some great, very spiritual lessons on the atonement. Probably some of the best on the mission so far with members. I love every opportunity to speak on this topic because it is everything. I can't even tell you how much the atonement has changed the person I am for the better. The atonement's power has no bounds and is a free gift available to each and every one of it. I invite everyone to reflect more on how indescribably awe inspiring this gift is. It is so much more than forgiveness of sin. This is my solemn and humble testimony. In the name of He who freed us all from an everlasting death, Jesus Christ. Amen.

On to the pictures...

Love you all so much and I am so grateful for all that you do.

Love,

Elder Sheehy

Yeah, I definitely got stuck in the mud in a members front yard after one of the rain storms.

Outside our apartment in the fog.

So something pretty cool in our area is basically this little zoo that belongs to an elderly widow who has been on and off again investigating the church. We have been going over to give her service fairly regularly and there is a ton to do. She has probably a hundred parrots, a ton of monkeys, and dogs. So it is a pretty cool place to visit.

This one talks and says hello.

One of the many different kinds of monkeys. You have to be careful around them, because they will try to steal your name tag. they also bite.

This guy has serious anger issues. He will jump across the cage, slam into the wall, and shake the bars whenever someone comes close.

One of our member's sons who is serving a mission in Washington is a crazy talented artist. He drew the murals of Halo and Star Wars on the hood of his car. We thought it was scratches from a distance, but when we got closer we were like " Are those storm troopers?"
